Restoring our house in Umbria

From laying mosaics to having our builder go bust - there wasn't a dull moment

When we started on this project we did so in the full expectation that it was not going to be any easy matter rebuilding our beautiful home in the Umbrian countryside. There is no way, though, that we could have foreseen the trials and tribulations which, as I write this now, are far from over.

This section covers not only the problems we had with a builder who was fighting hard and against all the odds to stay solvent, but also the happier moments like choosing mosaics, plants, streetlights etc.

There is also a lot of practical information here about 'how to ...' with details of drainage, ducting, retaining walls, heating, swimming pools and so on.

Restoring the house has been a labour of love and will occupy us for years to come - of that I'm sure.
